What is SloMo?
SloMo is a digitally-supported talking therapy for people with worries about harm from others.
It works by supporting people to slow down fast thinking habits that can contribute to worries, to find ways of feeling safer and living well.
Our previous research has found that SloMo is helpful, and that people find it enjoyable and easy to use.
Therapy platform
Within therapy sessions, the online therapy platform supports people to notice worries and fast thinking habits, and provides tips to help you slow down.
Mobile app
Between therapy sessions, the mobile app offers the chance to continue trying out tips and strategies at any time.
The SloMo Journey
SloMo consists of up to eleven individual sessions with a therapist, assisted by a therapy platform and mobile app.
How SloMo works
SloMo works by supporting people to notice their upsetting worries and fast thinking habits.
Thoughts are represented in bubbles, which are personalised in content.
People are encouraged to try out tips to learn what helps slow down their thinking, and practice using these at any time to feel safer.
What can I expect from a SloMo therapy session?
SloMo therapy is designed to be flexible, and tailored to the user’s needs.
Sessions will include:
A catch-up, to review progress and as a reminder of learning
Short videos to hear from other people about their worries, with tips about what can help for feeling safer
Interactive activities to test out new learning and practice skills
Chance to record key learning from the session as a reminder in future
Setting a plan for how to practice new strategies in your life
Sessions will typically last 1 hour, and will take place at a location convenient to you, such as in your local healthcare service, at your home, or remotely via video call.
