Current research: The SloMo2 Study

What is the SloMo2 study?

We previously found that SloMo therapy is helpful, and people find it enjoyable and easy to use.

The SloMo2 study will find out whether SloMo can be delivered in the NHS.

If the study works, we hope to make SloMo more widely available in the NHS.

Who can take part in SloMo2?

SloMo is intended for use by adults (18+), who are experiencing fear of harm from others.

SloMo has been co-developed with individuals with lived experience of these difficulties, to be as helpful and user-friendly as possible, including for people who do not feel confident using technology.

The therapy is for use by people who are currently under the care of NHS services, where their clinician has assessed the therapy as being suitable for them.

Where can SloMo be accessed?

SloMo is currently available in three UK NHS Trusts.

How can I access SloMo?

If you are interested in trying SloMo, contact your care co-ordinator, doctor or local NHS SloMo team.

If a SloMo therapist is available, they will help you consider if the therapy is suitable for you.

You will be given an information sheet, and can ask any further questions before deciding whether to try SloMo.

Your usual care will not change whether or not you take part.

Who is running the SloMo2 study?

The SloMo2 study team are based mainly at King’s College London. The study is co-sponsored by King’s College London and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

The study has been reviewed by an independent group of people, called a Research Ethics Committee, as well as by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), who are responsible for the regulation of medical devices in the UK.

The SloMo2 Study is funded by the Wellcome Trust, a politically and financially independent foundation that funds health research.

Dr Amy Hardy, Chief Investigator of SloMo2, is also supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London.
