SloMo Privacy Policy

It is very important to us that we make sure the information you share with us when using SloMo is kept safe and secure. This Privacy Policy explains how SloMo, and our subsidiaries and affiliates (together, "SloMo", "we" or "us") collect, use, retain, and disclose information about “you” (a person who is accessing SloMo therapy) when you use our therapy platform and/or mobile application (collectively, the “Software”). We will also outline how we collect, use, retain and disclose information about “your therapist” (an individual psychological practitioner, trained in the delivery of SloMo, allocated to deliver SloMo therapy to you).

Please note, this policy does not cover how we may also collect, use, retain, and disclose information about you as part of your SloMo2 research study participation. Please instead refer to the study Participant Information Sheet.

Why are we collecting information?

We will use the information we collect as follows:

  • To support the delivery of SloMo therapy

  • To make sure the software is functioning as planned (e.g., debugging, identifying and resolving problems)

  • To conduct research into SloMo to find out if it helps, and how (e.g., evaluating usage and outcomes)

  • To improve the SloMo software and therapy

  • To ensure the safety and security of the software by limiting access only to those approved to do so.

What information will we collect?

Information you provide to us

  • Personal details: you are not required to enter any details into the software that would identify you personally (Personally Identifiable Data (“PID”), such as your name, email address, phone number, home address, and NHS number).

  • Username: you will be asked to choose a username within the software. Your therapist will use this, along with a unique code, to identify your information in the SloMo therapy platform. This keeps your information separate and secure, without identifying you personally.

  • Health-related data: as is common in therapy, the software will collect data regarding your mental health. This may include questionnaire responses about your experiences of worries about harm from others and wellbeing, as well as any worries and safer thoughts you add to the therapy platform or mobile app. You are not required to enter any information into the software that you do not want to.

  • Saved audio files: the software will enable you to record notes either verbally or in writing. If you choose to do this verbally, an audio file will be saved.

Information we collect when you use the software

  • Usage information: this will include your use of the therapy platform and mobile app, including what screens or features you access.

Information we generate when you use the services

  • SloMo unique code: a unique code will be generated by the software that will be used to identify your information in the SloMo therapy platform and link this to your mobile app.

Information we collect about your therapist

  • Personal details: to access the SloMo therapy platform, your therapist must be logged in to their SloMo account. To make sure only trained therapists can access the platform, we will collect your therapist’s name, work email address, and NHS trust.

Your consent for collection of information

To use SloMo therapy, you will be asked to complete a Consent Form with your therapist, via the SloMo therapy platform. It is your choice if you want to use SloMo or not. If you decide to use SloMo, the consent provided will indicate that you agree to the collection of information, as described in this policy, via the SloMo therapy platform. If you decide to use the SloMo mobile app, your consent to the collection of information, as described in this policy, will be indicated by you entering your SloMo unique code into the mobile app.

Data retention and deletion

Data entered into the SloMo mobile app that has not been shared by you to the therapy platform will remain in your local device storage only, and can be removed by deletion of storage data within your app settings. You may request for all data you have entered into the SloMo platform to be deleted from the software at any time.

After you have completed therapy, we will continue to store your information in the SloMo software when the SloMo2 research study is running (until June 2026), or for 2 years after you sign-up to SloMo (if we have funding to do so) so we can still help you with any technical issues. After this time your data will be deleted from the software.

Please note, deletion of software data differs to research data. Please refer to the Participant Information Sheet for further details of research data storage and removal.
